Mary Newland – Lead Vocals
In addition to performing as a lead vocalist, Mary enjoyed a strong career as a well-known back vocalist for major label recording artists such as The Beach Boys on Warner Bros, Saga on Warner Bros and Atlantic Records, Charo on Universal Records, Beth Hart on Atlantic Records.
Along with her partner, Richard Baker, Mary wrote and performed the theme for a syndicated TV series, “Mad Movies with the LA Connection”, as well as the episodic musical score.
Mary has been a session vocalist for radio, television, (TV and radio commercials for Washington Mutual Bank), and films such as ”Be Cool” MGM, starring John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Vince Vaughn. ”Double Down” Lions Gate Entertainment, starring Jason Priestly, in which she performed the lead vocal over the credit crawl. ”Groom Lake” Showcase Entertainment, starring William Shatner. ”Beneath Loch Ness” Showcase Entertainment, starring Patrick Bergen and Robert Foxworth for which Mary co-wrote and performed the featured thematic song, “Cradle of the Deep”. ““Dante’s View” Showcase Entertainment, starring Grace Zabriske, for which Mary also co-wrote “Wild about Harry” and coached Ms. Zabriske on location.
A longtime desire to pay tribute to Linda Ronstadt, who inspired Mary early in her career, is the genesis for the Blue Bayou Band. A concert band that performs under the musical direction of Richard Baker.

Richard Baker – Composer – Orchestrator
Richard was an original member of the Gino Vannelli Band for four years, during which time he recorded three Gold albums.
He recorded and arranged on the album: “Touch and Gone” with Gary Wright of “Dream Weaver” fame and spent many years in Los Angeles as a session player which included dates for film and television.
Richard worked with Leo Sayer “When You Need Me”, “You Make Me Feel Like Dancing” and performed with him on a 14-month World Tour. He then joined the Santana Band and was a member for five years. Richard played, arranged, wrote, toured and co-Produced on two gold and platinum albums, “Shango” and “Zebop”.
Richard composed the theme song and episodic musical score for the TV series “Mad Movies With The LA Connection” produced by Four Star Productions known for its hit series “The Big Valley”. Richard has composed music for over thirty theatrical films, as well as for TV movies and commercials.
In 2000, Richard and his partner, Mary Newland, opened a Music/Post Production Studio “Filmcue” in Los Angeles and provided Post Production services for the TV series “Everybody Hates Chris” and “Invasion”, as well as many independent films. In 2006, Richard returned to Canada and has continued to compose music for film, television, and albums for his clients in Canada, the United States (Los Angeles) and Europe.

A MEMORABLE EVENT
The Blue Bayou Band brings back songs from the catalogue which launched Linda Ronstadt into music history and became etched into our memories. Mary Newland and musical director Richard Baker have assembled a top-flight band of musicians to bring this show to audiences who long to revisit a great era in music.
Along the way, they also hope to bring a new experience to some who may not have known these great songs. An experience which will undoubtedly stay with them for some time to come.
